By trade I am not an artist - however with my wife producing more and more books and needing quality book covers, I found myself in a situation where I could finally put my business artwork skills to some use outside of my normal areas.

So here I am, uploading various book covers that we'll be using for her books for others to have a look at.   All the artwork tends to be composited on my dual 24" display desktop machine running the latest Ubuntu (I used to be a Slackware person but quite frankly Ubuntu just makes it so much easier).  Everything I do is using Inkscape ( [link] ), GIMP ( [link] ) or even QCAD on the odd occasion when required.
